“Walkin’ on Holy Ground”

Jerusalem is a city with the intertwined histories of three of the World’s major religions. They overlap and conflict each other from time to time, but there is no doubt it’s a Holy city like no other. I was thinking about who really owns the land we walk on, how property ownership became ingrained in our cultures, and the idea of saints and sinners being a matter of opinion, i.e. victor and vanquished. Those three ideas shaped this tune. Somehow Marc Cohen’s soulful voice crept into my subconscious, and I had a compass to guide me to the mount. The rest was just playing with melodies and harmonies. Thanks to my daughter Hailey for singing the high parts in the choruses and Neil LaFortune again on drums with Stephen Miller (of Brantford) on bass and guitar solo.
