“Let God Do”

Before Covid hit, I travelled the world performing as a tribute act.
I frequently played in a tribute show down at Memories Theatre in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. I was in a show called Elvis and Friends. It was a classy show 600-seater, and we were all fortunate to work with Charlie Hodge. He performed as himself, as he had done for years with the real Elvis Presley. Charlie started off his career with “the Gathers” of Nashville Gospel fame, and later met Elvis in the army where they were bunkmates in Germany. When Elvis came home Charlie came with him. He sang harmonies, played rhythm guitar, did the preliminary song arrangements for Elvis. He was the only band member to live at Graceland in the house with Elvis and family. Charlie and Elvis were both deeply religious spiritual people. Charlie gave me the quote “Just let go and let God do.” though it was a common expression in the local churches. For me it’s not about giving up, it’s about faith and trust and confidence. Many thanks to John Price on flute, Neil on “Ringo” inspired drum chops, and my wife Laura making the choir blend beautifully.
