“Jesus Chose the Cross”

I was listening to a lot of current Christian Rock music, big arena rock, slick, melodic, impressive. I was fooling around with a harmonica trying to pick out some notes, mindless of what key I was in. Somehow, I stumbled into the harmonica bluesy hook for this song. It was a happy accident. The lyric came from the dilemma of self sacrifice. The night in the garden, and Christ knew what lay ahead, and had to choose. Could he avoid the cross…? His example of ultimate faith and sacrifice is the cornerstone of Christianity. I’m paraphrasing sections of the biblical text here. I’m not saying I said it, I’m saying HE said…
Thanks to Jim Casson (Niagara) on solid drums and cherry tank sound effects, Stephen Miller (Brantford) on tremolo guitars and bass. To my surprise the song worked better without a solo, the harp bridges the musical gap in the double time, as the tension mounts to the outro. It’s Gospel Blues and Rock n Roll away the Stone.
