about

“Crossin’ Your Rubicon”

I heard a news reporter say, “He’s really crossed his Rubicon now!” “Rubicon, isn’t that a river?” I said.. Google research reminded me - look it up. How do you handle things when you pass that point of no return and the going gets tough? Songwriting 101; there’s a set-up verse, a verse about Caesar, and a verse about Christ. Plus I really like the sound of the word Rubicon, it's percussive.
The point of the song is YOUR point of no return - forget Julius.
This track is all me with Jim Casson on rockin’ drums.

lyrics

CROSSIN’ YOUR RUBICON © Joseph Ress

I think all lives matter and everyone is blessed
But If you want to make history you’ve got to pass the test
Somewhere there’s a river with a point of no return
And If you don’t know how to swim you’re gonna have to learn.

Soon you’ll be Crossing Your Rubicon
Gone past the point of no return
Crossin’ Your Rubicon
Remember don’t look back

Julius Caesar had a choice to make to make it to the top
He had to cross the Rubicon he just could not stop
He won the Roman Empire but he died betrayed
He made history but in fact his soul was lost not saved

Soon you’ll be Crossing Your Rubicon
Gone past the point of no return
Crossin’ Your Rubicon,
Remember don’t look back

Render unto Caesar - his request
Surrender to the Lord - your best

Just keep on keepin’ on, Crossing Your Rubicon.
Will you be king or pawn, when you’ve crossed your Rubicon

Now Jesus was a child of God, born under a star
He followed his truth he travelled near and far
He spread the word of the Gospel to anyone that would hear
Then He died and rose a Savior he was, salvation not fear

When you’re Crossin’ Your Rubicon
Past the point of no return
Soon you’ll be you’re Crossin’ Your Rubicon
Remember don’t look back

When you’re Crossin’ Your Rubicon
Gone past the point of no return
When you’re Crossin’ Your Rubicon
You don’t look back

Hallelujah - Hallelujah - Hallelujah
